I tried Malwarebytes rootkit killer, with no success. When it was scanning the file system, it was taking a long time and the bar was only about 20% done, when suddenly it told me it "finished" and found no threats. I then tried running RKill from windows regular mode, which told me there were no malicious processes (lie) I attempted to use Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10, but when attempting the scan, it took a ridiculously long time to get to 2% then said it would take 12 HOURS to finish the scan, so I stopped it. This leads me to believe the virus started itself before windows even booted up. DIGITALPERSONA EXTENSION OFFLINEI ran Windows Defender Offline from a disk, which scanned and turned up no identified threats (which I know is untrue). When I try to boot into safe mode, the windows logon screen displays, but within a few seconds the screen goes black and instead displays the regular logon screen. My Firefox browser has been uninstalled without me doing so. YouCam Mirage in task manager list: suspicious program I do not remember installing. atieclxx.exe in task manager list: same as above ![]() When I try to "open in file browser"- access is denied csrss.exe in task manager list: Blank user name and description fields. If it can prevent a boot disk antivirus from detecting it, couldn't it make it through a reinstall of windows even if I use the disks to do so? As it is able to do this, I am afraid of attempting to wipe my drives and reinstall windows. I do believe it is some type of rootkit or MBR bootkit, as it starts affecting things before windows boots even when I use a rescue boot disk. My computer is infected with a virus that I cannot identify as I am not experienced in doing so. ![]()
